Launched at the Basel Watch and Jewelery Show in 1976, the 1200 caliber got an outstanding welcome as its concept was unique. Gilles Baillod, a former chief publisher of "l'Impartial" a local Swiss newspaper internationally renowed for its watchmaking surveys wrote :

"In the field of mechanical watchmaking, new breakthrough to be registred as discoveries seemed very unlikely. Nevertheless! In April 1976, at the Basel Fair, an outsider of the watch industry presented a new product that impressed enfineers and stylists : it was such a slim movement - 1.2 millimeter thick - that made it was defying  the traditional art of mechanical watchmaking."
